Biography
MICHAEL WOLCHANSKY
MANAGING ATTORNEY
Michael attended undergraduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and graduated in 2002 where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Personal Finance. He received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence at Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco and obtained Certificates of Specialization in Public Interest and Intellectual Property Law. He has been practicing law since 2006 and has worked at small firms, federal and non-profit organizations.
Michael co-authored AB830 which added civil damages for violence based on gender equality and gender expression. This legislation was signed by Governor Jerry Brown in August 2015.
He is admitted to practice in the State of California, United States Supreme Court, United States District Court Northern District of California, United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, and Veterans Administration and the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
He volunteers with the San Francisco Bar Association Volunteer Legal Services Program, AIDS Legal Referral Panel and the National Veterans Legal Services Program-Pro-Bono Veterans Consortium.
Michael has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Non Profits: QUIL- (Queers United for Intersectional Liberation ((formerly Groundswell Institute)); Spectra Project; California Conference of Bar Associations; Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom Foundation, Pride Law Fund and American Constitution Society and was the founder and inaugural president of the Golden Gate University Chapter of the American Constitution Society.
He was a speaker for the American Bar Association Continuing Legal Education course: Social Security Disability Hearings: Proving Mental Health on April 10, 2018. A copy of the program can be found here.
